Over the past few weeks, the United Scientific Group and Nursing Science-2020 committee members have been monitoring worldwide developments related to coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak. With many countries and regions recommending self-quarantine and many institutions strongly advising staff, faculty, and students to restrict travel, as part of our effort to prevent the spread of infection, we have taken the very difficult decision to postpone Nursing Science-2020 scheduled for October 19-21, 2020 to June 28-30, 2021. Her name is well known in the cancer field, especially in navigation, survivorship, patient centered care, preservation of quality of life, end of life planning and care, improving the cancer patient’s experience and clinical outcomes. She clinically specializes in breast cancer care. Her public speaking, literary work, and notable roles she has held over the last 40+ years are well known to many.

She has worked at Johns Hopkins since 1983. Lillie takes great pride in the Academy of Oncology Nurse & Patient Navigators (AONN+) which as of April 2020 has more than 8,900 members. Lillie serves on 28 medical advisory boards currently.
In 2008, The President of The Johns Hopkins University and their Board of Trustees appointed her to a Distinguished Service Faculty Chair. This is the first and only time in the history of the institution that a hospital nurse has been appointed to a distinguished service designation. She continued to climb the academic ladder and in 2016 was promoted to full professor and is the only nurse at Johns Hopkins to have a primary faculty appointment in the School of Medicine and the only nurse in the country to have reached the highest academic faculty ranking and be appointed to a faculty chair as a University Distinguished Service Professor of Breast Cancer at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.
She has received 61 awards—54 national awards and 7 state awards including being inducted into the Maryland Women Hall of Fame, Women in Business Healthcare Trailblazer Award, Johnson & Johnson’s Most Amazing Nurse in America award, National Komen for the Cure’s Professor of Survivorship award, and several national life time achievement awards.

Samantha S. Hernandez, MSN, MSW, PhD.(s) is the Regional Director of the Northeastern Simulation Center - Saint Barnabas Medical Center, RWJ Barnabas Health in New Jersey, and a national and international speaker on the importance of integrating simulation in healthcare education. In 2017, Samantha earned the SACME Young Researcher Poster Award at the SACME Annual Meeting for her poster Inter-professional Communication with AIDET and HCAHPS in Simulation. In 2017 she was also named an Education Hero: Individual, NJBIZ Healthcare Heroes Awards Finalist 2017 & 2018, and Chair of the Society for Simulation in Healthcare Internal Medicine Affinity Group (January 2018 to December 2019). Samantha has been a member of SACME since 2016 and currently serves on the SACME Program Committee (SACME Annual Meeting 2018). She received her bachelor’s degree from Queens College, CUNY, her Master’s degree from Adelphi University in Social Work and Seton Hall University in Nursing, and is completing her Doctoral degree through Seton Hall University.

Samantha has over ten years of experience in the health care industry where she has developed strong clinical and administrative skills. She has extensive experience coordinating and understanding the needs of multiple agencies while effectively advocating for quality care. Her work focuses on the use of simulation with debriefing, assessment, and self-awareness. She launched the first Northeastern Multidisciplinary Simulation Consortium and developed the Northeastern Inter-professional SimWARS Competition and Symposium. She is dedicated to developing and delivering high quality, affordable, and comprehensive education including education with the use of simulation - to diverse and underserved communities.
